Looking for unique card collecting ideas for my newborn son!

Rate this Entry
My wife and I had our first baby this year. I have been trying to think of some special kind of card collecting that I can do each year for him but have not come up with anything. Are there any Bench members with any ideas for collections that I can start for my son that I can add to each year for him? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

you could collect players born on his birthday, players with his name (if there are any), players who made their debut on his birthday (if it was during the season), players who did something significant on his birthday...

We have a minor league tea m where I live so I started collecting there team sets signed for my son and the league prospect card set. He is 4 now and loves to get the cards signed himself now.

Two other ideas for you (we had our first child this year as well, a little girl....probably not going to be into cards the way Dad is!!)

I have put a set of cards together signed exclusively by players I respect for their contributions to the game as well as their religious beliefs (Jamie Moyer, Mike Sweeney, Jack McKeon, etc.) This has been a lot of fun, and is a way to teach a child that there are good role models in the sports world, you just have to look for them!

I like the idea of players with his name, that would be fun to see as well!

    God Bless, happy parenting!!

That is a great idea too...I definitely have a handful of players that I respect for on and off the field achievements! Thanks for the post!

    Dear KCLJ520 and Grapler135s,

I have plenty of Tim Salmon, Mo Vaughn, Barry Larkin, Paul Molitor, Jim Abbott, Mike Sweeney, Craig Biggio, Wally Joyner, and Vernon Wells.
If you look at this link, you can see many wants I have:

This is one of the few times I would be willing to send players for commons.
I would be willing to send first, then you can send what you feel is appropriate.
We would then save the need to make lists for each other.

Here is a guide of some other players to consider for the future:
