Should I be worried about this bidder?

I have the Alonso Superfractor up on eBay right now, and I'm a little concerned about one of the bidders.

This bidder has a perfect feedback rating in the 500's, but in the last few days he's bought some big ticket cards - these are just a few:

What concerns me is that this bidder is from Taiwan, and I have clearly stated in the listing "Sorry, NO international bidders" due to the potential for the buyer to claim they never received the item. The number of big ticket purchases in a short period also has me wondering; then again, maybe the guy has more cash than he knows what to do with.

What do you think, fellow Benchies? Am I worrying about nothing, or is this a valid concern? Let me hear your thoughts...

Thanks,
Dan

Not passing judgement on international bidders, but if it's a concern, you can select settings in your My Ebay so international bids are automatically not accepted. That way even if they bid it won't go through.

I would be concerned....a lot of fraud has come out of Twain....Sellers get payment (by credit card) and ship item....later seller get report that buyer claims someone stole and used his credit card....seller is out of $$$ and of course the item is never returned. Best regards, David

I did exactly that, but somehow he was still able to bid. Haven't figured that one out yet.

Yep, David, I've heard of that happening quite a lot. The other issue is the inability to prove delivery.

Personally, I'd be a bit concerned. He might be a big Harper fan, but I would be totally concerned shipping to Taiwan, when you clearly stated no international bids. Weird that his bid got through though.

This same thing happened to me about 2 months ago and destroyed my ebay account. Tiwain buyer bought 5 big ticket items in 1 week. Paid for all of them, I mail, they claimed the items were not as described and the envalopes arrived to him empty, he got his money and all the cards, i was destroyed as a seller and out all of it. You can go in now and cancell his bid, just explain to him you do not ship out of the US. Then add him to your blocked bidders list and he cant bid on your items anymore. This is def. a scam. I am telling you unless you can afford to give him the money and the card, stop him from bidding. If all else fails and you cant do it online, call ebay and explain that you do not ship outside of the US and they will help you get him off your auctions.

Yep, I'd be worried. I'd cancel his bid NOW. Unfortunately, you are not protected from things like the above mentioned. For that much money, I'd certainly not only get tracking information, but I'd get signature confirmation as well.

Nice card - good luck! That should bring in a ton.......

I also had insuance, sig. conformation tracking the whole 9 yards, but they filed the claim as item not as described, and then won the case. I will never ship out of the country again. It desroyed me as an ebay seller. I could not afford to refund all the money becuase I hjad spent some of it and now it is in ebay collections. Sad but true, never sell to anyone over there.

(sigh of relief) The good news is, he's no longer the high bidder. I've put him on my blocked bidders list; hopefully, that means he won't be able to bid on this auction anymore.

I wonder if he used an IP anonymizer to get around the location restrictions I put on the auction. Since I limited it (or so I thought) to US bidders only, if he used an anonymizer that sends up a HUGE red flag.

If anyone wants to know the bidder ID, shoot me a PM. The guy might be legit, but my hunches (and your advice) say he isn't worth the risk.

Thanks,
Dan

I had this issue too, where I only allowed bidding to the US and got offers from Canada and Taiwan. Ended up selling to the guy in Canada and he seems to be okay. Also, Google the user id and you may find more info.
