Hey, thanks for the post beachbum, glad this thing is getting read. Last few days to update on here today. First, probably the best return out of the two, Mr. Don Rickles sent me an 8x10 no auto pen!! Really proud of this email success. I also got back Wilbur Howard who returned my letter signed but no questions and he kept my '75 Topps, so if has one that is signed let me know so we maybe we can work out a trade. I am gearing up for the season to start and my trip to see the Salem Red Sox, hoping Moncada will be there this year. We are also taking the fam to Disney this year and I don't know who is more excited me or the kids. My son started Tball yesterday, the first step to who his draft with the Red Sox, lol, happy collecting!!

2 weekend successes to share. First Roy Dietzel, former Washington Senator in '54. I added name to the directory. He signed 1 index card and nothing else and no questions. Next I got back Dave Rhode on 2 '91 Topps for my set. 275 days. He did answer my questions. Hope all is well with all of you and happy collecting.

Yesterday brought in Gordon Richardson on on 1966 Topps in 16 days. He answered all my questions and added a short note. Can't wait for tomorrow and opening day. My little man had his first game yesterday in tball. A double header. He was wore out. Great fun to watch. I started this thread before he was born. Crazy. Hope all is well with everyone. Happy collecting.

A few new successes to share with everyone. I got back Bill Helper and Dennis Ribant both on 66 Topps. Helper answered questions and returned in 16 days. Ribant answered questions and returned in 9 days. Former Royals pitcher Jimmy Gobble is a coach near me for a high school and I got him on a ball. Super nice guy. Hope all is well with everyone and happy collecting.

Wow has it been a great week!! First my wife and I had a work thing in San Diego for a few days, kind of like a trip for being awesome. LOL. We got to do a lot of cool things, USS Midway, Coronado Island, La Jolla cove and sunset cliffs among a few of the things we did. Then we took a few extra days in Vegas. It was awesome, broke even in the casinos, went to Hoover Dam, great dinner at Gordon Ramsey steakhouse, and met Pete Rose. Yes I paid up to get a chance to meet him, get him to sign a ball, take some pictures with him and ask a few questions, but it was worth it. When I got home I had 2 letters waiting for me, Ozzie Van Brabent and Allen Richter, both one of the 100 oldest living baseball players. Both signed 2 index cards and answered my included questions. 8 days for Brabent and 13 for Richter. Then last night we went to see the Salem Red Sox, no players were signing, which is crap, they get big heads and forget the fans. Never had a game in which they didn't, including Xander, JBJ, Hazelbaker, Middlebrooks and so on. But I did get Paul Abbott on a ball, Joe Oliver on a ball and Angel Berroa on a ball with ROY and his jersey number. So not a total loss. I have a couple more out hoping to get back, we shall see, and plan on getting a few out this week. Hope all is well with everyone and happy collecting.

Got a few more to share with all of you, not a ton, but better than nothing. First I got back my Lee Smith on a 1991 Topps that I had sent to him with a donation. It wasn't full price to what he wants but close, so I guess he liked my included letter and signed it. He didn't answer any of my questions, but really didn't think he would, still a hit for my set. 27 Days and it came back from Phoenix, weird. Next I got back Mike Cameron on an Upper Deck 2008 in 8 days and again no questions. This one was needed as the one I sent out previously came back with the envelope ripped in half and the card missing, so, needed it. last I got back Ryan Goins on a 2016 Topps I sent to ST, 73 days, and again no questions, but nice success. I only mailed out 6 to ST this year and I got 2 back now, so 33% success rate. LOL. I hope all is well with everyone and happy collecting!!! Oh and if you want to follow me on Twitter I am Jamesbosoxfan1. There is a lot of sports stuff on there and work stuff too.

Hope everyone has been well out here in The bench land. Have a few successes to share with you. First which is the best is I got Roy Sievers on a ROMLB baseball. I mailed to him at the end of April and I got back last week. Very nice success. I asked him to add his homerun total which he did and his RBI total. Very cool. Next I got back Harding Peterson in 9 days on 2 IC. he did answer my questions as well. Nice success from former player and GM. Next I got back Jim Bunning on a 1958 Topps. He signed my card and answered my questions as well. Nice success from a Hall of Fame player. Did pick up an ebay win of 1991 Topps Bobby Valentine, I never get his returns, which is odd since so many do. I have a few more out there I am hoping will find their way back to me soon. Disney was awesome, kids had a blast and so did their dad. Tball season is over, which was really fun to see. He loves baseball, good for me I guess. We have been practicing a lot in the yard here lately for next year. Hope all is well with everyone and Happy Collecting!!!

Took a hiatus off of sports collecting and TTM for awhile, not sure if I was burnt out or what, we moved to Illinois and back since my last post. When we moved out there in Oct of 2016, just never got my rhythm out there. We moved back to VA in August of 2018, and within the last 2 months or so, got that feeling back. I recently completed my first vintage set. 1953 Bowman Black and White, my dad started it as a kid and then later on, and I finished for him, 9 years after he passed away. Got some successes to share with you all for my TTM. Tim Teufel on 86 Donruss, 48 days, no questions, Scott Bailes on a 90 Topps, Tommy Greene on 93 Topps, Bob Kelly on IC and did answer questions, Andy Stankiewicz on a 93 Topps Gold, David Nied on 93 Donruss, Tom Newell on 88 Fleer, Juan MArichal on 05 Upper Deck HOF card with donation, Billy Sample on 83 Topps and 85 Donruss, wrote a really nice letter back, Jack Lazorko on 89 Topps, Pat Neshek on 17 Topps, Xavier Hernandez on 91 Topps, Ron Hodges on 84 Fleer, Bob Kipper on 91 Topps, Jim Acker on 91 Topps, Dan Pleasac on 91 Topps and Rick Manning on a 87 Topps. Hoping to get down to a Tennessee Smokies game soon to graph some coaches and players. I hope all of you have been well, and I will keep up with this page again, now that I have the bug. Happy Collecting!! Also meant to add, I am adding my updates to the TTM page and some new addresses I have found, just incase anyone still does it. Looks as if people haven't graphed in awhile. Let's get it going again!!!!

    Welcome back and nice pickups!

This section of The Bench has definitely been slow lately - would be great to start seeing some more successes for folks!

Happy Monday - 2 day work week for me this week, so not too bad. Got 2 returns over the weekend. Start out with Darrin Fletcher on a 91 Topps in 9 days. No questions answered. Second, is a HOF player, Ryne Sandberg. 45 days on a '91 Topps #7 I think is the card number, or it may be #9. Either way. Getting close to 150 signed '91 Topps. Going to catch a Tennessee Smokies game on Thursday against Jackson Generals, hoping to get Doug Drabek on a card and ball, we shall see. Pavin Smith is also on that team, former Virginia Cavalier, so hoping to grab his signature as well. Hope all is well with all of you and Happy Collecting.

Nice returns - was Sandberg a paid return?

I have Drabeks son Kyle on a ball from his time in the Philly organization.

Yeah, I sent him 5.00 to sign, but glad he did. I hope Drabek is a good in person signer.

So I got to go see the Smokies play the Jackson Generals, and I graphed the Generals. I got Drabek on a ball and asked to add '90 CY which he did. Pretty excited about that sig. I also got Pavin Smith, who hit a mammoth homerun in the game, Jazz Chisholm, and Daulton Varsho. Jazz also hit a blast in the first inning. All the prospects I got on ROMLB balls. My wife got me a really nice 1962 Post Mantle, and a '71 Bench and a '71 Mays. Those 2 look fabulous, and I chose them over a 52 Irvin who had some creases just for the fact that the 71's are really hard to find in great condition. So not a bad weekend trip to Tennessee. Hoping to get up to Roanoke and see the Salem Red Sox soon. I did also receive Reggie Harris back on a '91 Topps in 9 days. Happy Collecting!!!
