Series 1 - bright white stiff cards with a glossy front. The photography gets better all the time. Each card looks really great. I like the design this year - a bit different than years' past - not cluttered - simple. The reverse has complete pro stats and Topps continues with the league leader stats in red.

Topps Series One is again one of the basics for the set builder. One receives nearly a complete base set in a hobby box ( in most if not all jumbo boxes a complete set is received.) The player collector will have a number of parallels to chase - red sparkle, black, gold, mini die cuts and 1/1 printing plates.

There are a number of SP's in this set - photo variations. To the best of my knowledge, I did not receive one in this box. I have seen a good number of them on the 'bay - most going for $5-$15 each.

The autos in this set are stickers and are called Trajectory Autos - also I have seen these on the 'bay as well with the bigger stars going for $15+. In addition to the normal autos, Stratta cards are inserted as redemptions - if I am not mistaken.

I like the inclusion of the older buy back cards in the boxes. These could entice someone to build a set from yesteryear!

Die cuts - look very good and are well done!

Overall grade A -- good design!

Go buy several boxes and send the Rays parallels to me!

Thanks for the review Duane. I love this years design. Nice, crisp and clean. I seen a few of the sp photo variation cards, they are ridiculous! A small star-burst looking thing in an inconspicuous place in the photo. I bet a lot of people will trade these away not knowing what they are. Please LMK if you pulled any of these.

Great review on Topps, I agree on the clean simple look of this years set. In addition to the photo variations do not forget to look for the sparkle sp's.

I have to disagree with one comment - nearly 1 complete set per Jumbo box - I opened 3 boxes and am missing 18 cards for just the 1st set! I split a case with a friend who hasn't completed sorting his yet but I sure hope he has what I'm missing ! Otherwise like the design and very good quality.

Trading will begin shortly (as soon as I figure out which inserts I'm keeping)

Jumbo boxes are different than hobby. They contain 12 packs - 36 cards per pack, 1 auto and 2 relics guaranteed. Most hobby dealers only receive 1 jumbo box per 12 hobby boxes purchased (or so I have been told.) I have yet to not get a complete base set from a jumbo box.

I have a good number of extras. What numbers do you still need? If I have them, they are yours.

Great review Duane. Now I am motivated to go to Wal-Mart and get some 2014 Topps. Anybody know if there are any Jim Thome cards in this set? Thanks.
