I'm going to cheat a little and give you a song from a group that was a 2 hit wonder with their hits coming in 1973 and 1982.

    Radar Love by Golden Earring.

Some surprising things about this group and song.

    1) Golden Earring is a Dutch rock band. That surprised the heck out of me. I thought for sure they were American. Heck, they don't even pronounce the "th" sound as a "d" like so many of their fellow countrymen seem to do.

    2) The official video is just so dorky. It is so far from the tough guy sound of the song it is hilarious.

    3) The band looked nothing like I imagined. I assumed they looked like they were in the cast of Sons of Anarchy but they looked nothing like that. Or like Lynyrd Skynyrd at least .I guess you can't tell a book by its' contents. LOL

I rolled about 25 different songs around in my head for this one...Who Let The Dogs Out....Donkie Butt....Tootsie Roll...Whoop, There It Is, you know, every great wedding dance song. I was than able to narrow it down to two.

My runner up, in case the actual winner is unable to perform their duties as greatest one hit wonder of all time:

    Barbie Girl - Aqua

The winner and never to be defeated champion...Oh My God, Becky...

Baby Got Back - Sir Mix A Lot

Jimmyhazard, my calling Golden Earring a "one hit wonder" (actually I called them a "two hit wonder") was strictly from an American singles charts perspective. I should have put the 4th surprising thing about them is they were formed in 1961, put out their first album in 1965 and their most recent one in 2012! They have put out an astounding amount of albums (25 studio, 8 live, 2 compilation albums and a whopping 74 singles). But their commercial success looks to have taken place outside the United States. And I think they are still active!

Oddly enough the two musical acts I listen to the most (Delain and Within Temptation) are also from Holland like Golden Earring but they would unfortunately be "No Hit Wonders" using my criteria. Which these days, given the current popular music scene, is probably a good thing!! No definitely a good thing! LOL
