    He played for that team?

We all have our favorite baseball team. We all know the all time greats who have played for our teams. However, throughout the course of many players' careers they find themselves briefly playing for teams that we typically do not associate with them. It may be the case they were minor leaguers called up for a bit before moving on to success with another team. It may be an all-star who had a brief layover with a team before moving on to a longer tenure with a third team. Maybe it's a player who switched team at the twilight of his career hanging on for just one more year.

List a player of note who played for a team which he is/was often associated by most fans and the team people tend to forget he played. To meet this criteria, a player has to have played for at least ten years of all-star/Hall of Fame caliber play.

Tom Seaver - Red Sox (1986)

Chief, I'm pretty sure Clemente never played for the Dodgers. I know the Dodgers signed him originally and he was in their Minor Leagues system, but was never called up to play for them.

i got a shirt at the Hall of Fame that listed all of the Hall of Famers that played for the Indians. I always thought Walter Johnson always played for the Senators but did not realize he played for the Indians for three years at the end of his career.

The answer that I thought would be one of the very first ones has not been posted yet which surprises me. "This player" playing for "this team" is almost always used as an analogy for someone who is playing way past their prime for someone other than the team they are closely identified with. Johnny Unitas with the Chargers is the other example that is seemingly always referenced in this scenario too. I'll let you know when someone gives the answer I am looking for.
