Base Cards

I received 177 unique base cards - 59% of the 300 card base set. Gypsy Queen is printed on thicker card stock. As one can see in the picture above, the cards are tan both front and back. I believe that there are 20 short prints in this issue.... I only received one - #303 - Ripken, Jr. -- this seems to be a rather stingy distribution of short prints....

Gypsy Queen should be a good issue for the player collector with several variations on some of the cards. One can receive black and white versions, indigo blue versions, missing logos, logo swaps, and photo variations to name a few -- along with printing plates.

Gypsy Queen has a good number of positives - good number of base cards in the box, very few (20) short prints to chase, variety of parallels, several variations plus pretty cool box toppers.

Overall grade A+

Go buy several boxes and send the Rays autos and Rays variants (if there are any) to me!

Anyone else getting sick of Gypsy Queen? It is getting a little played-out now in my opinion. I miss the Framed parallels and tobacco-card sized mini's.

I wish they'd shelve this concept for a while and bring back Bazooka or Chicle or Topps Unique or a new set.
