Always fun to see who is off to the hot/cold start and then project out over the course of a season. Of course, it it totally improbable that anybody ever maintains the projected pace...
It would be nice to have a real run at someone hitting .400.
Judge hit 52 at the age of 25......Bellinger had 39 at age 21. Hitting .400 is hard....Gwynn, Brett, Carew...did not do it.....(players from my younger days). Best regards, David

But it took Bellinger far more at bats to get to that number than it took Judge.

Here are Judge's stats for his first two full seasons:
Year Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG

    2017 NYY 155 542 128 154 24 3 52 114 127 208 9 4 .284 .422 .627
    2018 NYY 112 413 77 115 22 0 27 67 76 152 6 3 .278 .392 .528

    Here are Bellinger's
Year Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG
    2017 LAD 132 480 87 128 26 4 39 97 64 146 10 3 .267 .352 .581
    2018 LAD 162 557 84 145 28 7 25 76 69 151 14 1 .260 .343 .470

Judge has more HR's, more RBI, higher BA, higher OBP, higher SLG.
Bellinger is off to a hot start. Maybe he'll keep it up, maybe not. His prior history indicates not, particularly the BA- he's a career .263 hitter. So enjoy his hot streak for as long as it lasts! I'm not rooting against him. As I said in a prior post, it would be nice to see someone make a serious run at .400.

I wonder if anyone will ever get to a .400 batting average again. Especially with today's emphasis on hitting the ball in the air and the amount of shifts that are being used. I really think Tony Gwynn would have done it in 1994 if not for the strike. I know Brett hit .390 in 1980 but he missed a lot of time with injuries that year. And I think Carew hit .388 in 1977 or 1978 ( I cannot remember off the top of my head). But someone hitting .400 again seems to be an impossible task.

Brett's .390 is the one that I remember. I know Ichiro made a run at it at one point - ended up at .371 or .361, can't remember off the top of my head.

Trying to think of a current player that has a shot at it -- maybe Yelich or Altuve???

Chris Davis ended his hitless streak at 53, so that is what I am setting the over/under at for Bellinger HR's this year.

If you were starting a team right now would rather have Bellinger or Judge? I am leaning more towards Bellinger because of age.

Cody Bellinger is only 23...he'll be 24 on July 13, 2019.....Aaron Judge is 27.....Let's add three more years of stats to Bellinger numbers and most of the stats will be in Cody's favor.....Remember...I'm not a dodger fan, Twins fan and I'm from Fresno where Judge played baseball for Fresno State Bulldog! Best regards, David

I lean towards Judge, but a lot of that is because my son would disown me if I didn't say Judge.

I just looked it up and Aaron hit 140 home runs by age 25. He was born in February of 1934 and turned 25 in Feb. of 1959. His 1959 Topps card as well as Baseball reference shows him with 140 home runes going into the 1959 season.

I'm pretty sure Griffey Jr, ARod and Ott all had more home runs before age 25 than Aaron but they were not hampered like Aaron by many black players being relegated to the Negro Leagues like Aaron was.

If there was one offense that could survive losing him for a couple games, it would be the Dodgers right now! They are just raking like crazy.
