Boots, I have an interesting stat for you. The year Barry Bonds hit 73 HRs, on the morning of June 15th that season he had 34 home runs. THIRTY FOUR! Barry made Christian Yelich look like "Sister Christian" by comparison..........for any of you who get that reference.

HA! I knew you’d get the reference Boots seeing as you’re a little more worldly than most. And smarter too!

I have not listened to that song in probably 34-35 years and after making my snarky post, I gave it a few listens. I must say that song has held up well over the years. I can see why VH-1 ranked it as the #32 greatest song of the 1980s showing that even the blind squirrel, otherwise known as VH-1, can find an acorn from time to time.

Speaking of 80’s rockers still touring, the only two autographs I have ever personally sought out are Pat Benatar and NFL legend Jim Brown. Yes I know, those are always mentioned in the same sentence. What can I say, I’m diverse! LOL

One benefit of making snarky posts is researching the topic you just posted. I had no idea Sister Christian was about the drummer’s younger sister Christi, coming of age. Interesting. Even I can learn something new everyday.

I could also have said that Barry Bonds makes Cody Bellinger look like Clay Bellinger and Pete Alonso look like former Met Edgardo Alonso but then I would not have any 1980s rock references to back up my point! LMAO!!

    “IT”S TRUUUUUUUUUEEEEE!”

"I'd rather be luck than good" said a wise man once.
Alonso hits # 27, breaking the Mets team record for Rookie HRs in a season (and it is not even the All-Star break) AND adding to his record of rookie HRs prior to the All-star break!

"So" is beginning to make Mike Trout look like a minnow.

Alonso now holds the rookie record for Home Runs and RBI before the All-Star break with 30 and 68 respectively.

These obviously must be Tee Ball records you are talking about, right?

Yes, the same records Cody Bellinger could not approach!

I must commend Boots for not crowing about Pete Alonso winning the Home Run Derby last night. Boots is much too classy and demure and would never play the old “I told you so” card that may upset other members.

But I will do the job for Boots (since he is much too modest) and channel my “inner Boots” (yes, that does sound a little weird, I admit) and make some commentaries that he would make if he were a trouble maker......................which he is not.

“That Peter Alonso makes Babe Ruth look like Ruth Bader Ginsburg”
“That Peter Alonso makes Vladimir Guerrero Jr. look like Vlad the Impaled.”
“That Peter Alonso makes Darryl Strawberry look like Strawberry Shortcake”
“That Peter Alonso makes Mike Trout look like a Mike Minnow” (Yes that was used previously by me but I gave Inner Boots permission to use it.
“That Peter Alonso makes Ryan Howard look like Shemp Howard”
“That Peter Alonso makes Clay Bellinger look like Cody Bellinger”
“That Peter Alonso makes David Wright look like David Wrong”
“That Peter Alonso makes Barry Bonds look like Bail Bonds”
“That Peter Alonso makes Christian Yellich look like Sister Christian” (and yes I did give Inner Boots permission to use that line.) “IT’S TRUUUUEEEE!”
“That Peter Alonso makes The Big Unit look like the Big Eunuch”

And despite the rumors that Pete Alonso used a corked bat in last night's Derby, the Inner Boots says "That is a lie of the Devil.........THE DEVIL I SAY!".

At any rate we all should thank Boots for not bragging about Pete Alonso’s win last night. His restraint in this matter is very magnanimous of him......or something.

Sheesh, what I originally thought was playful banter amongst a couple fellow central-NYers must have taken a turn for the worse.

At any rate, yay Pete for winning the HR Derby and a 2 RBI single in a losing effort by the NL. Looking forward to the 2nd half to see what he does and maybe McNeil can win the batting title too.
