11-13-2019, 06:42 PM #115I am absolutely hoping that the Eagles can pull this one out. As up and down as their season has been, they are in 1st place in the NFC East with the Cowboys @ 5-4. And still have a head to head with them in Philly. Even winning the NFC East, they would probably only be at best 6th best team in NFC behind Seattle, SF, Minnesota, New Orleans, and Green Bay. 11-15-2019, 11:29 AM #120Well that escalated quickly....Flipped over to see score of the game towards the end, and what did I get to witness..Myles Garrett assaulting the Steelers QB with his own helmet. That had to be the exact optic that the NFL was going for with its standalone Thursday night games. Originally Posted by David K.
Basically flipped back and forth at that point between NFL Network and ESPN for their hot takes - James Jones/Willie McGinest at NFL Network basically hung the blame on QB Rudolph and said Garrett wouldn't have swung the helmet if Rudolph had just quit scrapping - WOW! Everyone elses take was that Garrett went way over the line, regardless of circumstance - used the helmet as a weapon.
Garrett should be suspended for a year, not the rest of the season, for a year -- he should not be back on the field until week 11 in 2020.
The Browns DL (Olgibude?) who shoved Rudolph from behind after he was hit with a helmet should get 3-5 games, minimum.
Pouncey should get 2-3 games for throwing punches and trying to kick Garrett.
Rudolph should get fined for initially grabbing Garretts facemask after the sack.
Lost in all of this is that a Browns DB was ejected for helmet to helmet contact on JuJu Smith, knocking him out of the game with a concussion. The Browns lead the NFL in penalties and penalty yards - they are completely undisciplined.
Can't wait to see what the NFL does to "protect the shield" on this one.....Building Topps sets from 1969 to the present. Always looking for Puckett cards.
