Great game last night between Ohio State and Clemson. Lawrence proved to me that he has some mental toughness along with his great skills. Clemson faced a really tough test and came out on top. The Buckeyes played a great game and went toe to toe with them. But you have to score touchdowns and not filed goals in the red zone. The targeting penalty really hurt the Buckeyes momentum in the first half but they had their chance in the 4th quarter and fell just short. Ohio State will lose some key players to the NFL. But the great thing about being a Buckeyes fan is that they do not re-build. They just re-load.

You couldn't have summarized Clemson/Ohio State any better than that. I thought Clemson was done, but holding them to FG's and not giving up TD's saved their bacon. And despite a couple of questionable calls, Ohio State had the ball and a legit chance to win it. Still trying to figure out what the WR and QB each saw on that last INT, since the WR broke off his route.

The other semi-final wasn't nearly as competitive - LSU owned that game from start to finish, not a lot to talk about.

Vegas has already installed LSU as a 3.5 point favorite in the national championship game.

The targeting call kept Clemson in the game and the overturned scoop and score was too much for OSU to overcome. On the final interception it was just a miscommunication and not really any ones fault. Olave broke off his route when he thought Fields was beginning to scramble.

I'm still in shock even though it was days ago. I feel really bad for the guys who are moving on. To be the better team, to dominate your opponent and have your career ended by awful officiating is something they will never forget. The class in which the players have handled this situation is something all Buckeyes should be proud of.

Absolutely rooting for Burrow in the championship game.
Looking for Bo Jackson , Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson , and Topps Vintage

I think it would have been worse, if it was a call that kept the Buckeyes from scoring. Despite how everything played out - the Buckeyes had the ball and could have won the game. They had their destiny in their own hands.

New Years Day was weird -- just doesn't seem like it used to be. Used to be games kicked off at 11am and every channel had a bowl game on - this year, I only saw 2 or 3 on television, and didn't watch any of them. Before, I would be glued to the television for hours. I like the playoff, but it basically makes every other bowl game irrelevant, unless you are alumni, superfan, or gambler.

The targeting call allowed a drive to continue for Clemson which led to a score. The obvious Clemson fumble was returned for a touchdown by OSU. That is a 14 point swing caused by the replay officials. In a game like that you can't spot another top level team 14 pts. It should have never gotten down to the last possession of the game.

OSU did nothing wrong. They scored on every drive into the red zone. While they didn't always score touchdowns it doesn't mean they did anything wrong. They just didn't do it as well as they could have.

Honestly, I have no idea why it got pushed so far out, but if I was to guess, it would have to do with television and money!!!!!

Finally playing tonight - hoping that it is a good game. I have no dislike for either team, so whoever ends up winning, will not be disappointed in the outcome.

Decent game for a little over a half. LSU just had to much for them in the end. Didn't help that the clemson LB got tossed for targeting, but it was the right call. Players have to be smarter.....

I believe due to that targeting call against the Clemson LB and the call against the OSU DB in the semi final the NCAA will make a change to the rule. In both cases it was clear there was no intent to hurt the ball carrier. A penalty? Maybe, I call it football, but to toss a player out of the game is way too much.

Why don't they flag ball carriers for lowering their head/helmet before a tackle is attempted on them? I counted multiple times per game during the semi's and championship where this happened. Isn't it the same thing? Lowering the head and making contact with the crown of the helmet. I would think it should be flagged both ways if safety is the intent of the rule.

I don't disagree with that assessment at all. There are times when it truly does seem like incidental contact. 15 yards for some of the hits would seem more suitable. The ejections should come for more egregious fouls in which it is purposeful helmet to helmet, or launching yourself helmet first.

And I know it is technically 2020, but Mark Dantonio stepping down as head coach at Michigan State is somewhat surprising. 63 years old - to spend more time with his family. I hope that is the truth and it has nothing to do with all the scandals that have been rocking East Lansing the past couple years.
