Just like the WS - about two hours until tip off -- Pelicans (minus Zion) v. Raptors (minus Kawhi) and than at 10:30 it is Lakers/Clippers -- should be fun!

Raptors/Pelicans was kind of blah game to kick off the season, but Siakim went off in game one after signing his new contract.

Lakers/Clippers - AD and Lebron scored 2, count them 2, points in the 4th quarter of their loss to the Clips last night, who were without Paul George. I can't imagine that Danny Green will go 7-9 from deep every night - the Lakers still have an issue with 3 point shooting, somebody better step up, or they will end up exactly where they were last year.

Kyrie drops 50 in his debut with the Nets...and they still lose. Most points ever for a players first game in a new uni.

Sixers beat the Celtics -- the team that gave them fits last year. Nice to see Horford helping the team rather than frustrating the crap out of Embiid!!!

Everyone crushing the Warriors and saying they are done after losing by 20 to the Clippers. I am going to say that is a bit of an overreaction...Are the Warriors as good as they have been, obviously not, but come on, the Clippers are the team to beat in the West, and they just schooled the Lakers 2 days ago. Still think the Warriors are making the playoffs, even without Klay.

And right on cue - the Warriors get off the schneid with a victory over the Pelicans.

Watched a good chunk of the Hawks/Sixers -- the Sixers better find someone to shoot the ball from 3 point land. They do not look comfortable unless it is in the paint.

I broke down and bought the NBA team pass so I can watch the Cavs. Seeing how bad they are supposed to be I figured that would be the only way I would be able to see a game. Watched the Cavs/Pacers game and Cleveland did not look too bad. I did not catch the Cavs/Bucks game last night. I figured they would not do too well but they held their own for 3 quarters. I am hoping that they could possibly make the playoffs but that is probably a pipe dream.

That is true fan-dom right there!!!

Not sure if the Cavs have a shot at that 8 seed in the playoffs in The East or not..

    Bucks
    Sixers
    Raptors
    Nets
    Celtics
    Heat
    Magic
    Hawks
??? -- maybe the Cavs do have a shot. Teams that shouldn't be in - Knicks/Pistons/Bulls/Wizards/Hornets.

Am I missing anyone on either the in or the out list??

The East is the weakest it has been in a LONG time. It would not surprise me if a team makes it that is under .500. I do not think I can name one player on the Magic. I know the Hawks have Trae Young but other than that I do not know anyone. But a lot of people could say the same thing about Cleveland. I agree with the first six teams you listed but after that is anyone's guess.

Right now, the Nets aren't even top 8 (yeah, I looked at the standings, just to see). There is a distinct possibility that a sub .500 team makes it in this year.

I did forget a team - the Pacers, although they are 0-4 right now, so eminently forgettable. At least until they get Oladipo back. I can name a couple Hawks, but only because they played the Sixers a couple nights ago..and they have the ageless Vince Carter!

I watched the Cavs and Bulls last night. Cleveland did not look too bad and pulled out the victory. They are 2 and 2 now but both victories have been at home. They play at Indy next so we will see how they do in that game. Thompson was a beast last night and Love had 20 rebounds. If they can get that kind of production from those two then they may be able to pull off an improbable season and finish at or near .500.

The Bulls are a trainwreck....they will be sitting at the lottery table again next year. Not sure how often you will see nights like that from Thompson/Love - but I did like their PG Sexton.

Enjoyed seeing KAT/Embiid get into a scuffle - their needs to be a bit of animosity between teams. The Banana Boat era needs to vanish. Curious how many games Simmons will get for putting KAT in the Camel Clutch.

Tough night for the Warriors with Steph breaking his left hand. Total freak play, but i think that is the hoops gods saying put a stamp on this season, get everyone healthy and enjoy your top 3 pick in the draft next year. Saw the stat - in their last 6 games (pre-season not included), they have lost KD, Klay and Steph to injury - that is not a good 6 game run.....

Sixers still undefeated after a last second three to beat the Blazers. Getting more and more concerned about Simmons still not wanting to fire up any jumpers at all, let alone a 3ball.

After scoring 159 to beat the Wizards by 1, the Rockets have gotten destroyed by the Nets and Heat. Westbrook was a stellar -46 for his time on the court.

Pelicans have been close to winning a handful of games - they could be tough when (if) Zion comes back!!!

Need some help with a result last night. I watched James Harden push off with his left arm, directly into the groin of Jae Crowder, knocking him down. Crowder got ejected from the game and Harden got free throws, what on earth is going on???? Not quite as bad as the outcome in the finals a couple years ago when Lebron stood over Draymond and Draymond caught him in the jewels and got suspended, but still pretty bad.

If NBA officials do nothing more than start calling the off arm push offs and clear outs by the offensive players, the game will be more fun to watch. And maybe call a travel every now and than on those 8 step step back threes.

And please Ben Simmons...shoot a 3...just do it. Once you do it, you will feel more comfortable going forward!

Ben Simmons injures his shoulder last night against the Jazz - saying it is a minor AC sprain. Hopefully it doesn't turn into thorasic outlet syndrome.

But that injury popping up leads to the bigger question of "load management". The Clippers are getting an approval from the league to let Kawhi take nights off to rest, so he will probably only play 55-60 games in the regular season, and than play all the games in the post season. If I am the Sixers, I am getting an exemption for Embiid. If I am the Lakers, I am getting an exemption for LeBron. If the goal is to have your best players healthy for the post season, why not have all the stars AND role players who average big chunks of minutes have nights off.

Sixers/Cavaliers tonight - should be one the Sixers don't struggle with, but who knows the way this season has started out.

Couple of big injuries - D'Aaron Fox, Kris Middleton, Gordon Heyward -- all going to be out for extended periods. Never like seeing guys go down with injuries! Heyward was having a great season after a bit of a subpar effort last year coming back from his leg injury.
