Can't remember the punishment, but yes, the Cardinals got in trouble for hacking the Astros computer system.

With Beltran and Cora now managing teams, I can see the MLB coming down really hard on the Astros to make sure the same stuff doesn't happen on their watch with the teams they are with.

No major FA signings yet, but Padres seem to be pretty active putting deals together.

Just heard on the radio that the Yankees are all in on Cole. His contract could be north of 250 million.

Sounds like it will either be the Yankees or the Angels for Cole - that is a lot of money, especially if a good chunk is guaranteed.

Phillies sign Zach Wheeler away from the Mets - it is a good start, now just need 3 more starters, 4 bullpen arms and 4 or 5 guys who can field or hit. Make that GM earn his money.

In bigger news, especially for Mets fans, the Wilpons have agreed to sell the controlling interest in the team by 2025. Going to a billionaire whose name I can't remember - but that is just what MLB needs is a team in NY with an owner with deep pockets not afraid to spend!!!

Stephen Strasburg re-signs with the Nationals 7 years/$245 million. Have to assume that means that Rendon will not be back with the club. Kudos to the Nats for keeping him with the squad and kudos to Strasburg for wanting to stay with the team that drafted him - would be great to see him finish his career where he started it.

So far north of $250 million that it almost qualifies as south!! 9 years/$324 million. The Yankees are your prohibitive favorites to win the 2020 World Series.

Heard on the radio today while on the road - if you add Stanton and Coles 2020 salaries together, it is higher than the payroll for the entire Orioles roster.

The Phillies pick up Didi Gregorius to plug a hole at shortstop. Now if they can figure out a way to get Josh Donaldson to hang out next to him at 3B for 162 games this year, that would be super.

Strasburg is apparently talking with Rendon, trying to get him to stay in DC - that would be a HUGE coup if he could make that happen!

Rendon to the Angels for 7 years/$245 million. Wonder if Boras used the same contract he did with Strasburg, but just swapped out teams and player name???

Corey Kluber to the Rangers. They get Delino DeShields and pitching prospect Emmanuel Clase back in the deal. Feels a little underwhelming in terms of what may have come back at the trading deadline.

Mad Bum to the D-Backs -- 5 years/$85 million. Is there anyone left for a contender like the Dodgers to grab? Dallas Keuchel? Josh Donaldson?

Might be another Championship ring net year!

They have as good a chance as anyone (and better than some!) - and if they keep their AAA club in Fresno, that gives them good mojo going forward.

Starting to hear the Lindor getting moved out of Cleveland rumors gaining more traction - my son wasn't happy about Kluber being dealt, if Lindor goes as well, pretty sure the Tribe will no longer be his favorite team.

I would like to personally thank the Royals for signing Mikael Franco - hopefully that is a sign that the Phillies are going to make a run at Josh Donaldson.

The Twins making a bit of a splash in FA with the signing of a couple of veteran pitchers - Rich Hill & Homer Bailey. Can never have enough arms!

Do we want to talk about the penalties handed down to the Astros for cheating here..or a brand new thread. Let's start here and see what happens...

Hinch and the GM suspended for a year.
2020/2021 1st/2nd round draft picks taken away
    $5 million fine

Beltran off the hook, but Cora may be in some trouble.

Seems like a reasonable conclusion - of course, if you are desperate enough to win, that would be a minor deterrent if you end up grabbing the ring!
