What is the story on this card? Topps did not produce autographed cards in 1974 much less serial #d cards. Did someone get ahold of 500 of these cards and have Mays sign them at a show?

The cards came from the Topps Valut program.
Did u ever buy stuff from their programs??
They use to have a trde site as well in the late ninety;s and early 2000's until they folded.
Their are plenty of traders on this site who use to belong to the Topps site.

So if this is an actual Topps product certainly there must be a Certificate of Authenticity that goes along with the card, right?

It had a sticker on the upper back corner and was numbered and just sold to a dealer i Michigan of a buddy of mine for 74.00.
These where real 74 cards and u could also find them in 76 and 77 as well and then in 77 they also issued a felt back set which was a limited edition set and some of those where also Topps Valut buybacks.

Oddly enough the EBAY auction that you referenced in your first post somehow did not post a picture of the back of the card. You'd think showing that sticker on teh back would make this a much easier sell.
