Looking at the low batting averages on this card you can really see how pitching was dominant in this era. Yet you had so many 500+ home run hitters like Aaron, Mays, Frank Robinson, Killebrew ,McCcovey and on and on. It was really a remarkable era.

On the 1969 Topps
When you look at the low batting averages on this card you can really see it was a pitching dominant era. Even with the great pitching this era produced numerous 500 home run players like Aaron, Mays, Robinson, Killebrew, MCCovey and on and on. It is really remarkable both things occured in the same era!

The 1969 Topps American League Batting Leaders is really something to study. Yaz was the only player to hit.300 and he led the A.L. with a .301 batting average. And the legendary Danny Cater was 2nd in the league at .290!!! Unreal!

I am not sure if it was after 1968 or 1969 but the mound was lowered after all the dominant pitching.
