Busted some 2021 Topps Series I over the weekend - this apparently qualified as one of the guaranteed hits in a jumbo. Literally looks like something a kid would make at summer camp.

Greinke is probably 2nd or 3rd ballot. But he's almost 40. Cole is early 30s. I said no starting pitcher gets in after Cole. I don't think anyone younger will have longterm numbers. Not Snell. Not Burnes. Not Alcantara. Who? Fried? Buhler? These guys have 2 good years, then get surgery and they're basically done. And none of them go more than 5 innings.
I'm starting to think you either have the printing plate on this card or are attempting to corner the market on it.

I think Blake Snell has a shot with at least 5 more strong seasons. He's already got 2 CYs, 2 seasons with lowest ERA, and a 20 win season. He won't have the counting stats, but maybe that's the new normal for starters.
Im trying to replace the one that I traded you. This one is not quite as nice.

Snell's problem will be that he has 2 amazing years and 6 highly mediocre years. While the 2 Cy's look good, they're far from enough to get in to the Hall. Otherwise, we'd be talking a lot more about Bret Saberhagen and Johan Santana.
If he gets a 3rd Cy Young, then maybe.

I'm reminded of Yogi's story about facing the white sox in 1960 with Whitey on the mound. First batter of the game Aparicio comes up, hits the first pitch for a single. Nellie gets up, next pitch lays down a bunt and beats it out. Minoso comes up, gets hit by the next pitch. Brings up Big Klu with the bases loaded, bangs the first pitch he sees off the wall for a double. So Casey comes out to the mound. And he asks Yogi if Whitey's got anything, and Yogi says How the hell should I know, I haven't caught one yet.

From the 2021 Series I break -- always nice to pull something that will go into a PC, in this case, my son's. It is a little off center, but not going anywhere, so not a huge deal. #'d/499.
Short career, but one of the best!

And an even shorter Topps Football card career! His only Topps cards were in 1979 and there were 4 or 5 of them in the set (League Leaders, Record Breakers, etc) I am pretty sure there was a contractual dispute between Campbell and Topps which never did get resolved as far as I can tell.
As a matter of fact I think the same thing happened with your fellow, former Beaver Falls resident Joe Willie! His last card was 1973 and he played until 19777. Too bad, those 74 thru 77 sets would have been helped ny a Namath card in them.
