I just can't in good conscious like this card... lol
There is one player's card in the 1979 Topps set that seemed to constantly evade me and it was a Cowboy. When my town's LCS was open 2 or 3 years ago I picked up a good sized lot of 1979 Topps football for a song. Combining those with my 1979s, I put together a NM set and a vg set since when buying collections the conditions are all over the grading scale.

I'm about 80% through the set building when suddenly I don't seem to have #429. I had every card from 1 through 428 for both sets so I looked up who was on this mysterious and elusive card #429. It was a Cowboy. Was it Staubach? No Dorsett ? No. Randy White? No. It was feaking Danny White! And I had copies of #430 to #528 for both sets after that! I didn't even have a ****** copy for my vgish set!

I finally tracked down two copies here to complete the 2 sets but even that was not an easy task One member here even went to his LCS to get one for me. Thank goodness for the Bench or I'd still need two copies of that card for those sets

Well at least Danny White finally had someone looking for his cards! 🤣

What are the dimensions to that? Did they have packs dedicated to those?

This is what Beckett online says:

The cards in this 63-card set measure 3 1/8" by 5 1/4". The obverse format of the Topps Super set of 1971 is identical to that of the 1970 set, that is, a borderless color photograph with a facsimile autograph printed on it. The backs are enlargements of the respective player's cards of the 1971 regular baseball issue. There are no reported scarcities in the set. Just as in 1970, this set was issued in three-card wax packs.

In the holder it measure 4.25" by 7.25". Not worth too much but a cool card to me!

Here's one for today! Does anyone else especially like graded oversized cards?

That guy was a big deal when I started collecting cards as a kid. I always thought he looked like Nick Barkley from The Big Valley.

As for liking grading on oversized cards, I do really like them. One of my favorite cards is a 1965 Topps Football Mike Stratten graded a PSA 7 It is one of my favorite cards, not because of value but because it is in such great shape for that particular football set.

I agree. Very cool. I like the jumbo Finest Refractors and Pacific cards from the 90s. And I'm going after the 1980 Marketcom mini posters (Cowboys only). So ya I like 👍

I don't think there is a Dolphin card you can post that will top that Funny Ring Checklist of yours. unless you can post a 1966 Topps card of the Fins first QB who goes by the name of Richard Lumber.

If I were able to like my own post here, I'd surely do that for this one. LMAO!!!
As promised, Jeff, the one and only Richard Lumber...

Signed no less, in person probably in 1966.

You came through! Awesome!!

What a lucky guy to have been named Richard Lumber! I wish my parents had given me a name like that but apparently they did not love me as much as Richard Lumber's parents did! LMAO!!!!!!!

Besides being the first QB in Dolphin's history (not to mention having the best name in Dolphin's history), he led Auburn to an undefeated season in 1958 and won the National Championship. He was also the first QB to throw a TD pass in Shea Stadium. Throw in the fact that he is the only player in history to play for four different AFL teams, Mr. Lumber is a first ballot HOFer in my personal HOF!

I did not know about the Auburn national championship. Why was he such a terrible pro quarterback?
