2017 Topps Update Prices - What a Joke!

So online prices were released for some of this product today. I checked what the Orioles SP's bv is US42 Eddie Murray SP $.30 high book value, Cal Ripken US227 SP $1.50 high bv. Now I know that they were a lot easier than normal to pull but recent sales for the Ripken range from $2.10-6.05 how can the bv be $1.50? Recent Murray sales range from $1.75 - $3.49 (one was at 14.99 but I think that is way off) so how can the bv be $.30? My #'s don't even include shipping this is the auction end price.

I contacted the online price guide via the ask me a question thing at the bottom and asked how they came to the conclusion of the bv's and the guy says the price gets decided by our analyst. I start sending him info from closed sales and at the end all he can say is sorry we can change the values that are analyst came up with. Now I understand that he can't physically change them there has be some sort of control over that but why would you ask the analyst to re-evaluate due to customer complaints.

My rant for now, a supervisor is supposed to contact me but I won't hold my breathe and if they do I don't expect anything to happen from it.

I am not surprised at all that the pricing is low--but this low is just plain stupid

David- I too expected them to be lower than other SP's from past releases due to them being a lot easier to pull as you said this is just stupidly low.

Wow...that is ridiculous. If the SP's are worth 30 cents, what does that make the common base cards worth?? A penny a piece, which is lower than junk wax era commons, and that makes no sense at all. Guess trades will have to be made with common sense, rather than Beckett sense....

Andy - The US42 base Seth Smith and the US42 SP Murray both have a bv of $.30. Such a waste of my money and time dealing with them, I am going to let my subscriptions run the course and not renew any of them unless they right the ship.

BTW - Card show is this Saturday will you be coming down to see us this time around?

Going to try....hours are 9 - 2?? If I do make it, will probably have my son with me, so my $$$ spent will almost surely double/triple.

Andy- It actually opens at 8am and we are usually packing up around 1-1:30 because it dies down by then. Hope to see you there we will be in our normal spot 1st row at the end.

David - I know, I didn't think they would be as high as the series 1 or 2 but this is crazy low, and the excuse they gave is lame. Have not heard from a supervisor yet, surprise!

Does this really surprise you? As an example, during his hot streak, Giancarlo Stanton Update RC went up to $15. Gold parallel /2010 stayed at $10. As if a parallel booking less than it’s base counterpart isn’t silly enough, the base was selling for $8-$15, Gold $50-$75. This is par for the course from Beckett...

In away yes it does surprise me because this is a brand new product and I found sold examples that were in some cases 10x the bv they have listed. The Stanton comparison, where I agree with what you are saying, is a little different as it was an "older" card and already had a guideline price that just wasn't being updated which hat does not surprise me at all I have seen that the last several years.

I have bought the George Brett, Bo Jackson, John Smoltz, Mark McGwire, Ozzie Smith and Mark McGwire SP's on E-Bay for around $3.00 each on average... Chris Olds is smoking *** if he thinks the High Value for these cards should be $0.50

Chris Olds is no longer with Beckett he was released on Sept 26 2015
