After years of learning, I had my first huge prospecting success the past couple of weeks. As a result, this came in today:

$(KGrHqF,!r!E88gTl4g8BPgjsPbN1!~~60_58.jpg

It's got to be the most I've ever spent on a card and is the only cut signature I want enough to justify buying. It's also important to me that it is cut from a bank document from a time when nicer cuts were available for cards.

That's quite a card to have! Can't believe they made 147 of them................Sweet!

I got these in the past few days along with a bunch of other Gehrig base, inserts and parallels from this year.

I've had some eagerly awaited maildays over the last few days, including one of the new favorite cards in my collection (saving that one for last).

mulderballauto.jpg
2000 Topps Gold Label Class 1 Gold 011/100 Eric Chavez, 2000 Revolution MLB Game Ball Signatures Mark Mulder. I've wanted that Mulder for a while, it's a nice looking set.

cahill11red.jpg
2004 Elite Extra Edition Status Gold 02/10 Eric Chavez, 2011 Bowman Chrome Red Refractor 3/5 Trevor Cahill. 2011 Red Refractors just don't look as nice as previous years, hopefully they will bounce back in 2012.

weekspurplejsy.jpg
2011 Bowman Sterling Dual Relic Purple Refractor 07/10 Rickie & Jemile Weeks. Now THIS is a nice looking card. I've picked up the base/196, Gold Refractor/50, and now Purple/10 versions of this card, but have had a hard time locating a regular Refractor/99 version for a fair price.

And now the big one...it's hard to believe this set came out almost 20 years ago...
eck93ref.jpg
1993 Finest Refractor Dennis Eckersley. Unless you were collecting back when this set came out you don't understand how big of a deal it was at the time, and how cool it is to even see one, much less own it. This is my second card, and first Oakland Athletic, from the set. The $30 it set me back was well worth it. No refractor lines!

Don't have it yet, but excited to share. Downside is that this is not an OLB and has another Team name and logo on it. Another downside is that this era of Mariner teams lacked any sort of star player. Bruce Bochte and Ruppert Jones were the big stars of the day until Alvin Davis came along and then they finally had a superstar in Ken Griffey Jr, but that was not until the 90s.

The upside is that this is a really cool ball signed by an early M's team, loaded with slightly obscure players, some deceased and one really toughie! The ball is really only missing starters Julio Cruz (which I should be able to get very easily if I wanted to add him), Tom Paciorek and Ruppert Jones to be a nearly complete and representative ball for that year.

1979 Seattle Mariners - Third Year Team Ball

Big post, first 3 cards from eBay:

zitonady.jpg
2003 Leaf Certified Mirror Gold Patch/25 Barry Zito, 2002 Topps Ten Autographs Barry Zito, 2001 Absolute Memorabilia RPM Bat Autograph Xavier Nady. I love the 2003 Mirrors and really love that patch. The Nady is numbered 014/700, but only the first 25 were autographed. The seller didn't mention that in the auction listing so I got a fair price on it. Nady stuff usually goes for more than you would think it would for a guy who never quite made it big.

The rest of the stuff are my favorites from an enormous 500 card COMC shipment that arrived yesterday. I didn't pay more than $10 for anything, and most stuff was in the $0.50 to $2 range.

Let's start off a little old school:
comc21.jpg

comc22.jpg
The two 1999 Bowmans are Golds/99, along with the Giambi International Refractor/100.

comc23.jpg
Stadium Club First Day Issue and One of a Kind, UD Choice Prime Choice Reserve/100, Circa Rave/150, and a more recent Studio Stars Gold/100.

comc24.jpg
2000 & 2001 Upper Deck Exclusives/100.

comc25.jpg

comc26.jpg

comc27.jpg
Barry Zito: A couple of jersey cards I like, 2000 Fleer Tradition Glossy RC/1000, and 2003 UD 40-Man Rainbow/40.

comc29.jpg

comc291.jpg
Topps All-Time Fan Favorites Refractor/299 Eckersley and a couple of 2005 Topps Chrome Update Red X-Fractor RCs/65: Omar Quintanilla and Cliff Pennington.

comc292.jpg
I now have Eric Chavez, Tim Hudson, and Barry Zito Donruss Class of 2001 First Class/100 Autographs...still need to locate the Mulder.

comc293.jpg
3 Jemile Weeks autographs...I probably have 12 or 13 of his autographs now. I'm trying to collect him pretty heavily, but he's started out pretty sucky this year.

comc294.jpg
The 2007 Bowman Chrome Eric Chavez is an Orange Refractor, the rest are Golds. The bottom row is Brett Anderson, Anthony Recker, and Bruce Billings.

comc295.jpg
Topps Blacks, Silks, and a Cliff Pennington Printing Plate 1/1.

comc296.jpg
In honor of his excellent A's debut today, a Jarrod Parker 2010 Bowman Platinum Autograph. I had one of these last year and traded it away...I had to re-acquire one after the A's picked him up in the Trevor Cahill trade.

comc297.jpg
Sonny Gray and A.J. Cole Autographs and Blue Refractors.

comc298.jpg
Patches! Especially love the Zito patch. I know I picked up the Tejada from a Benchie but I forget who.

I barely missed out on a few cards I really wanted (2011 Prime Cuts Gehrig jumbo swatch/auto booklet & 2011 Prime Cuts Gehrig patch card) but just could not go any higher on the bids.
