2012!
  • 1. Finish The Bench YSL Project!
  • 2. Get closer to finishing the 2003 timeless treasures gold set!
  • 3. Continue Sat Contests but at a reduced (once every two weeks) rate.
Happy New Year, David

I skipped last year, so I will jump back in. I am keeping them conservative as usual:

1) Spend less money overall on cards and supplies!
2) Put a large dent in the organization, beginning with my Dodgers and baseball cards in general, with the eventual end goal of having all of my cards sorted by player name (the Dodgers will remain separate from all others, but still by name themselves) for ease in the future finding things.
3) Big maybe here, but see if I can drum up the motivation to not only complete an inventory of my Garvey collection to the point where it is usable, but to scan the unique pieces and, and this is the biggest long shot, develop a website to share the collection.
4) Expand my Dodger autograph wantlist into the 40s and earlier and knock out the remaining couple dozen 50s-00s, while trying to remain current with the newest players as they appear.
5) Start a TTM program (that I have talked about for 5+ years and never did anything about).

2012 Collecting Goals

•Get all my cards into binders

•Get at least 20 autographs

•Expand my card collection by at least 3,000

•Get more Yankee cards!

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!:D

1) Finish off the 1970s

2) Create a website dedicated to my Jim Thome supercollection

3) 2011 Topps Heritage Minors (in-person autos) - can't realistically complete it but I'd like to put a serious dent in it before these guys drop off the pro ball landscape (200 cards!)

1. Obtain 1982 Topps Traded Cal Ripken.
2. Complete 10 sets on my need list (1974 Topps, 1982 Topps Traded, 2001 Topps Traded, 2004 Topps Traded, 2012 Series 1, 2012 Series 2, 2012 Topps U&H, 1996 Finest, 1997 Finest, 2000 Finest, 2001 Finest, 2005 Finest, 2006 Finest, 2007 Finest, 2011 Finest, 2012 Finest).
3. Get my Finest needs down to under 84 needs (currently at 168).
4. Obtain Aaron Rodgers auto.
5. Obtain PK Subban auto.
6. Obtain Carey Price auto.
7. Collect a Braves auto for each of the 1991 Atlanta Braves in a Braves uniform.

I've been on and off again as far as collecting goes, so haven't had New Year's goals as far as cards go in quite awhile.

So, with that in mind, here are mine:
1. Stay focused on cards this year. ;)
2. Get the Aaron Rodgers collection over 5% (sounds easy, but it seems to be a bit tough for this collection at the moment, plus I kinda like setting the bar a little low to start with.)
3. Get a Danica Patrick Memorabilia or Auto card for the collection.

Going to start 'em off easy for me this year, well, except #3, which may cost a bit. ;)

:D

These are a little lofty but I try to aim high

You aim high, I aim low! LOL! ;)

Happy New Year buddy!

1. Get graded Rickey Henderson and Reggie Jackson RCs. Kind of a big hole in an A's collection to not have those two.
2. Check 2 cards off my Trent Dilfer wantlist. I would have made it 1 because it's been a year or two since I've been able to find any, but I have one on the way from an eBay auction. :)
3. Double the size of my pre-war A's collection. Shouldn't be overly difficult because I just have 3 currently. (T206 Chief Bender & Jack Barry, 1934 Goudey Bob Johnson)
4. Update my website by checking my wantlists and adding any cards I missed, as well as adding complete wantlists for Rickey Henderson, Mark McGwire, and Reggie Jackson.
5. Complete 2012 Topps base and update sets, and finish 5 other sets I currently have incomplete or haven't started yet.
6. Complete 200 Bench trades during the year. This is the easy one since I had 270 in 2011.

Richard

Ok here are my goals for collecting in 2012.

1. Get to 250 cards on my 1959 Topps set (currently have 131)
2. Get to 250 cards on my 1969 Topps set (currently have 181)
3. Finish 1974-2002 Topps Traded sets (currently need 90 cards total)
4. Finish 1974-1977 Topps sets (currently need 51 cards)

Nothing to major goal wise though the 59 and 69 Topps goals may be tough. Will see where i'm at this time next year.

Dennis

Guess I will throw my goals out there:

1. Get to 90% complete on my 1972 Topps set. Currently at 84% but the high #'s are brutal.

2. Get to 90% complete on my 1971 Topps set. Currently at 81%. See above.

3. Get to 90% complete on my 1960 Topps set. Only at 79% now so this one may be tough.

4. Complete the 1975 SSPC set. I have been working on this set for years and the last 8 cards are being really difficult.

5. Complete the 1964 Giants, 1968 Topps Game, 1969 Deckle, 1970 Story Booklets, and 1977 Cloth sets. Down to last 22 cards to finish all these sets. But as you can probably figure out most of them are the bigger money cards.

2012 COLLECTING GOALS

1. Complete at least 50 trades here on The Bench-( did 46 last year )

2. Reach 500 post- currently at 400

3. Complete my 1967 Topps Football set- 6 cards to go

4. Complete or at least knock down by half my 1968 and 1969 Topps Football set needs—down to needing 98 for my ’68 set and 109 for my ’69 set

5. Organize my Steelers players collection—catalog what I have and make a needs list of players I want and cards I need of each player- currently I’ve done none of this.

6. In reguards to item #1- would like to help at least 5 members finish there set needs by having the last cards they need to complete there set/sets.

7. Go to the National in Baltimore this year- was not able to go last time there.

I hope all members make their goals or at least enjoy working on them this year.

Happy New Year to all and good luck
George
